# The Practice

Published 2016-02-11 · Updated 2015-03-02

We take a holistic approach to wellness – treating acute conditions while also addressing the root cause of an illness – through the combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy and tuina massage.

I practice holistically, treating the whole person not just the disease, and by supporting and nurturing the body’s own ability to heal. I believe in integrative medicine – I’m happy to be a part of your healthcare team.

In New York, acupuncturists practice as independent general practitioners. Our training is at the Master’s degree level, and is comprised of 3500 hours of didactic and clinical practice.

## Services and Departments

### [Pediatrics](https://dylansteinacupuncture.com/pediatric-acupuncture-herbal-medicine-for-children/)

Acupuncture is well suited to supporting a child’s wellness because it is a safe and effective treatment for common childhood ailments that comes without the same side effects of common medications. We use a combination of acupuncture and needle-free massage techniques, along with herbs, to treat everyone from babies through teenagers.

### [Women’s Health](https://dylansteinacupuncture.com/womens-health-acupuncture-herbal-medicine/)

Acupuncture has been helping women with their specific health concerns for thousands of years. Whether it is painful periods, PMS, infertility, fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS or menopause symptoms, acupuncture and herbs can help.

### [Men’s Health](https://dylansteinacupuncture.com/mens-health-acupuncture-herbal-medicine/)

Men’s Health, or andrology, in Chinese medicine is a relatively new specialty, just 30 or so years old. This has allowed for a synthesis between traditional philosophy and modern science in a unique way. We can now combine the ancient texts for sexual health and vitality with cutting edge understanding of male fertility and prostate health.

### [Dermatology](https://dylansteinacupuncture.com/dermatology-acupuncture-chinese-medicine/)

One in five visits to a doctor’s office is for a skin-related complaint, yet Western medicine has few treatments for dermatological conditions. Chinese medicine treats skin conditions safely and obtains significant, lasting results even in the most difficult cases of acne, eczema and psoriasis.

Acupuncture is probably best known for its ability to reduce and even eliminate pain. Whether the pain is a result of a chronic problem or back spasm that started yesterday, acupuncture can help you feel better, and does so with fewer side effects than pain medications.
